A guide for parents and carers

We recently surveyed Enrichment Leads as well as heads of Music, Drama and Art from schools across the UK. What we heard, loud and clear, was that you needed a guide that you can give to parents to help them understand the importance of arts enrichment for their children.

Whether it's extra-curricular group activities or work towards more formal exams, parents need to understand the part enrichment learning plays in their child's education and future.

So we’ve put together this simple guide that identifies three areas of focus for parents:

  • Educational benefits (an explanation of how the arts complement core subjects)
  • Mental health (how engaging with the arts can help young people express themselves and show resilience)
  • Future employability (how learning through the arts equips young people with the skills they’ll need to thrive in work)

Parental support is vital for the success of any child. Download and share this guide with your school community to help everyone understand, embrace and support your arts enrichment ideas and programmes.
